John Olsen, President
As President of Capital Education, John Olsen brings strong leadership and significant operational expertise to the company. He also serves as Executive Vice President of Operations at K¹², the parent company of Capital Education, where he leads the Institutional Products and Services business. In addition, John is a board member of Sierra Nevada College. Since joining K¹², John has led several functions to support K¹²’s growth, including Operations, Marketing, Enrollment, and Student Services. He also led the definition and development of K¹²’s High School Programs, serving more than 15,000 full-time students worldwide.
Prior to joining K¹², John was Vice President of Performance Improvement for AOL’s Broadband, Premium, and Advanced Technology Services. Previously, he was a management consultant at Diamond Technology Partners where he worked for clients in the telecommunications, financial services, and consumer products industries. He also served eight years in the U.S. Navy as a Supply Officer, in activities ranging from aviation logistics to major weapons systems acquisition. John holds a B.S. from the United States Naval Academy and an M.B.A from the University of Michigan.

Dr. John Neal, Chief Academic Officer and SVP, Business Development
Dr. John Neal serves as Chief Academic Officer and Vice President of Business Development for Capital Education , where he assists colleges and universities in the strategic planning and development of virtual learning environments. In this role, he facilitates program planning and design and market analysis and modeling, as well as the selection of learning platforms, course design, and the integration of effective online pedagogies.
Dr. Neal has served a number of highly entrepreneurial private colleges in a variety of roles, including Dean at Webster University and President of Ottawa University and Maryville University. Over the past twenty years, John has led the development of adult educational content offered through campus-based programs, online delivery, and satellite campuses throughout the U.S., Europe, and the Pacific Rim. Prior to his work with Capital Education, John served as President of Kaplan University’s home campus, building a seamless integration among multiple course delivery methods (on campus, online, and blended/hybrid).
John is the co-author of “Measuring Up: The Promises and Pitfalls of Performance Indicators in Higher Education” and has published and spoken internationally on issues related to quality assessment and accountability. He is a graduate of Free Will Baptist Bible College (B.S., Church Music and Biblical Studies double major), Middle Tennessee State University (M.A., Music Education), and George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University (Ed.D., Higher Education Administration).

Celia Stokes, Chief Marketing Officer
Celia Stokes brings more than 20 years of branding and marketing experience to Capital Education and K¹². At K¹², she is responsible for driving growth in student enrollment in dozens of schools and district across the nation. She is also on the board of Middlebury Interactive Languages, a joint venture between K¹² and Middlebury College.
Previously, Celia worked at Independence Air where, as Vice President of Marketing, she presided over all aspects of the largest and fastest brand launch in aviation history. The brand achieved a #1 ranking out of all U.S. airlines in customer satisfaction. Before joining Independence Air, she consulted to organizations such as Fox TV, PBS, the National Gallery of Art, J. Walter Thompson, and ADP on brand strategy, new revenue stream development, packaging, and content acquisition. Prior to that, she was the Vice President of Marketing for TELE-TV, a joint venture of Bell Atlantic (now Verizon), Pacific Telesis, and NyNex (now Verizon), where she not only managed the marketing launch for the wireless cable initiative but also oversaw one of the largest video-on-demand pilots in the country. Celia developed the foundation for her career at Ogilvy & Mather Direct, where she was responsible for business development and marketing strategy for clients such as Ciba-Geigy, Cellular One, and U.S. Robotics. She holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia.

Patrick Muller, Senior Director, Course Development
Patrick Muller has over ten years of experience in building online higher education curricula and has served in a variety of roles spanning the spectrum of course development functions—including editorial, instructional design, and quality assurance—en route to his current role directing end-to-end course development. Today, Pat’s primary responsibility as the Senior Director of Course Development is ensuring the timely, cost-effective delivery of high-quality courses for all of Capital Education’s partner institutions. Prior to joining the company, Pat served as a Senior Editor for the American Medical Association and as an Acquisitions Editor for McGraw-Hill Professional Publishing. Pat has earned a B.A. in English from Kenyon College.

Rick Reese, Director of Learning Technology
Rick Reese is responsible for the design and implementation of the Capital Education learning management platform. Rick has over ten years of experience applying technology to facilitate learning. Prior to joining Capital Education, Rick worked at Motorola University designing and building technology-based learning products. Rick also spent five years with Accenture's Center for Professional Education where he was responsible for building and deploying learning platforms to support blended-learning environments. Rick holds a B.S. in Mathematics Education from Northern Illinois University and an M.S. in Computer Science from Northwestern University.
